The Role

Cafico International is seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant to join our team in Ennis, Co. Clare. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day finance function of our International Business division including payroll and VAT administration, book-keeping, accounts preparation and financial reporting while working closely with a supportive and collaborative finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, payments and ledger reconciliation and managing supplier/customer queries.
  • Assist with bank account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post journals, maintain supporting schedules, and assist with month-end close tasks.
  • Assist with preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
  • Assistance with preparation of audit support files and assistance with audit queries.
  • Maintain accurate finance records and support reporting requirements, including ad-hoc analysis as requested.
  • Assist with VAT and other statutory returns by preparing supporting schedules and maintaining documentation.
  • Process client payrolls accurately and on time, including new starters, leavers, and payroll changes.
  • Respond to internal and external finance queries in a timely manner and provide administrative support to the wider finance team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ proven experience in an accounting role or as a part-qualified accountant, demonstrating a strong track record in financial operations and supporting month-end processes. 
  • Degree in Accounting/Business/Finance/Maths/Law (Minimum 2.2 degree with strong academics).
  • Progress towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CPA) is highly desirable.
  • Payroll experience is essential (end-to-end processing, payroll changes, and reconciliations).
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting and payroll systems.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • A collaborative team player who is proactive, thorough and committed to high quality client service delivery.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and with external stakeholders
